Description: Born on a floating island in the heavens, Knuckles The Echidna is the last echidna of his kind, and unfortunately has amnesia of what happened to the rest of his people. All that he knows is that he's meant to stay on Angel Island and guard the Master Emerald and his own set of Chaos Emeralds. The Master Emerald holds up Angel Island in the sky, and can be used to control the Chaos Emeralds, which means Knuckles takes his duty very seriously. For over a decade he stayed put on the island, never once leaving it, and never once seeing any excitement, until the day the Death Egg landed on his island. The Chaos Emeralds began acting strangely, picking up Knuckles, and exploding into pieces. When he awoke, he saw the damage to the alter, but more importantly, he saw the Death Egg in Angel Lake.
Fearing that the egg was a prophesied dragon meant to bring the island harm, he made a motion to find the Chaos Emeralds and stop it, but Dr. Eggman came, promising to help Knuckles get rid of the egg if he stopped Sonic The Hedgehog from using the Chaos Emeralds. He agreed, sparking a rivalry between the two that only ended when Knuckles realized Eggman only wanted the Master Emerald and to revive the Death Egg. Knuckles helped Sonic stop the evil doctor, but they weren't on good terms just yet. Knuckles began a quest to find his missing Chaos Emeralds, sometimes fighting against Sonic, sometimes fighting with Sonic, but eventually began friends with the Blue Blur. After entrusting Sonic with the role of guarding the Chaos Emeralds, he returned to Angel Island to protect the Master Emerald.
However, he still ended up in many adventures, and finding out more secrets of his ancient people. The Master Emerald had been a prison for the God of Destruction, Chaos, and Tikal had sealed the both of them inside to prevent Chaos' wrath. Dr. Eggman broke the Master Emerald to set Chaos 0 free, but the forces of good, with the help of Knuckles, eventually calmed Chaos and turned him good. Chaos and Tikal moved to Angel Island and became helpers for Knuckles, allowing him to help his friends in their missions. And yet...Knuckles' desire to protect the Master Emerald and Angel Island remains strong. As much as he'd like the freedom Sonic has, he's dedicated to his duty, will continue to fight for his destiny, even as the opening adventure of Sonic Supreme begins...
